Signature Pads are simple devices, in the way that they are basically digital paper, they don't break if you unplug them from the computer while it's still on.
If they stop responding, please try the following:
1- unplug both USBs from the computer
2- plug them back in and try again
In case that doesn't work, please:
3- unplug both USBs from the computer
4- save your work and sign out of Remote Desktop
5- restart the computer
6- plug the Pad back in and try again
